Roman Empire taught art of Persuasive Public Speaking to world. If you want your views to be accepted you have to convince a lot of people.
We see lot of global leaders who can keep everyone engaged by their speech, they can motivate people to act & behave in a way.
Some leaders are so confident that despite of language or culture barrier they can keep people engaged for hours & convince. Difficult route, convince?
Now, the other way of working is let me try & do what I want without discussing with anyone. Reasons, If I succeed I will take credit, if I will ask it will get rejected, I will not be allowed to implement in a way, & why should I ask-I am the Boss. Easiest way, no discussion?
Now in both scenarios intentions are good, it’s about achieving something positive. But the implementation route is different, which decides the result most of the time.
It’s always good to discuss with few, as it highlights risks, it validates assumptions, it brings shared ownership in implementation. No one is stopping you from going ahead on your idea even after listening to different views.
Choose your leadership style. Be ready for the consequences & own it. Don’t be ashamed of your failure after sticking to your views also, as leaders fail sometimes.
