We all heard about strengthening supply chain, reforms, attracting manufacturing to India. Except reforms all other things seem doable.
Reforms are going to be crucial & it’s actually state governments who can decide success or failure on this front.
All major Metro are out of reach from Central Govt. Delhi,Mumbai,Kolkatta,Chennai, Hyderabad, are ruled by non-BJP. These metros are going to decide GDP growth of India. They need to balance between risk to economy & life.
Once Global vs Local is settled, it’s going to be healthy competition between clusters. Like state vs state, West vs North, & reforms vs rigidity.
West vs North is going to be exciting. West had multiple advantages for centuries. But, coordination between Maharashtra & Gujarat is must for West Zone. Shifting of IFC to Gujarat, opposition to Bullet train, all these shows weakness of coordination in West. Comparatively, North Zone, Delhi, UP, Haryana are so integrated that they can’t be separated by any one or reason & less risky due to pro-industry attitude right now across North. With DFC in place, it’s some way balanced competition now between North & West. The difference is going to be political & burocratic acumen.
It’s time for healthy competition. Let the best cluster win.
