Everyone will have different management style to motivate team. In good time, not so good time, bad time & worst time, should the style be same?
Many leaders might not have experienced all these phases in professional or personal life. They may continue same style in all phases of business cycle.

Many leaders believe in motivating team by giving threats, by keeping team constantly under pressure.
There are few who believe in motivating team by setting example, being transparent, fair & giving hope. I think this is the time for this kind of leadership.

No communication by key people & wrong communication by others should be avoided. Not everyone in organisation is capable to communicate in this kind of scenario. The leader should evolve & show empathy, compassion, sympathy, warmth, show some ray of hope.
