Recently read in news paper about advice from McGrath to a cricketer, “Stick to the basics and stay patient” In each & every field, there are challenges, there are situations, in-short tough time. When we try to find the solution during tough time, we have to look at all possible solutions with lens of “basics”. As basics remains same, but we stop observing them. What are the basics, be there, observe, reflect, talk, correct, take feedback & again correct.
For example in Business Development or Sales, meet people, meet end customers, meet channel partners, attend few exhibitions, sit in one corner & observe customer, visit competition, have few lunches with stakeholders and have patience. If you keep doing this, your decisions will be more correct, your feedback will be precise, you will be able to choose where to invest your limited Resources for more benefit.
For example, basics for study, the entire Maths can be covered in one drawing sheet, if you just focus on “basics”. Same for some of the most difficult subjects & books, develop art of identifying “basics”.
Coming back to cricket, study, corporate job & life, hard work, discipline combined with sacrifice along with “Basics” brings you back on track in all the fields.
