We have grown with a belief that reading news paper in the morning is the best habit one can inculcate.
We used to read almost all news paper by exchanging newspapers with neighbours when we were growing. It was a good understanding between three neighbours to order three different news papers. These were regional news papers with local language.
As grown up, while over a period, we realised that news papers are politically little biased may be. And we realised that few articles in news paper were masala news, cheap news, & useless. Still, overall it helped in developing fast reading habits, improving general knowledge & history knowledge.
Now, we understand that Times of India may have good standard, some of the polished reporting, may be biased some times, but it’s ok. We can motivate next generation to read these kind of polished reporting...!?
& at that moment you start reading few articles, like article by Twinkle Khanna in TOI. It’s about two different India, when you read that if you want to drop habit of smoking start using Pot... if you want some degree, buy it online by paying to Spanish university. It may be written in lighter mood, do we want such role models for next generation. Should we motivate next generation to read this kind of content at young age.
I don’t know when such articles & authors became part of esteemed field of print news reporting. It’s respectful profession like a teacher, like a doctor, like a print news reporter. By bringing such articles & authors to prominence, may be great for ultra modern culture, are we not bringing down the respect for a century old profession & industry.
