Is it time to frame guideline to protest in mature society. Now a days if a child is slapped in school by teacher for his-her own benefit, the society is not accepting same. The values are changing, even in some countries parents are not allowed to scold or raise hand on kids.
Ragging has been made criminal offence, punishable. Even telling harsh words, cheap words to certain communities is made punishable offence, sometimes non-bailable.
This is one side of change in society-thinking, say it’s positive & we have to accept same, let’s see the the other side.
We accept stone pelting by kids, youngsters, adults as accepted norm to protest. We take only action when someone dies because of injury or someone is recorded with guns during protest. Now, if we are so stringent on near & dear one for genuine reasons, why we are so tolerant about stone pelting, attacking behaviour of mob. Why it should not be made stringent punishable offence. Protesting anywhere, taking law in hand, making others to suffer to communicate own belief. Going to someone’s house & thrashing him for his social media comment. There are laws, should we allow police to use them. Should we educate people, may be by using such laws. If we can create Nirbhaya law specifically to give a message, can we do similar thing to bring this behavioural discipline also.
Is it time to teach ways to protest in school curriculums. Is it time to make some stringent rules & take stricter action for such behaviour. Is it time to make Jantar Mantar kind of places part of town planning or community space planning.
