What was your biggest achievement in life

Leaders will have different leadership style, leaders will have different ways to motivate team, leaders will have different ways to get things done.

There will be leaders who are so calm that for them each problem is process or people or resource problem & they recommend long term solution by resolving it in a way that may take time but help across organisation. They are visionary, they keep observing what is happening globally, what is happening in other industries, they network, they travel. They believe in high impact restructuring or massive change in the direction, if situation demands.

There will be leaders who are extremely busy with good intentions but they are not able to empower or delegate, but with good intentions to protect interest of organisation. They try & solve problems due to cross learnings from different activities.

There will be leaders who keep running around & project themselves extremely busy, they would like to solve problem immediately. They focus & depend normally on past experience from same Industry.

There will be leaders who keep panicking & keep shouting. They don’t want to go in situation management, but, they believe that by shouting & using extreme pressure automatically things should happen. They rely on information gathering from different levels of organisation & stakeholders.

There will be leaders who wants to do everything themselves because of insecurity or to take credit of everything. They may be top performing in their sector. They keep seeking loyal people around them rather than talent.

There will be leaders who completely rely on the team, they trust, they allow them to make mistakes, they empower, they absolutely don’t want any credit, they have seen & understood life. They identify talent & than just rely. Also, they identify weaker members & try & focus on them rather than focusing on everyone equally.

There will be leaders who completely rely on basics of management, daily, weekly, monthly & yearly planning(of course monitoring). You give them any task & they will start working on same through their tested process, they will be effective in almost all situations.

There can be different ways to motivate people, one of the unique ways may be not giving work & allowing the person to realise same. To ensure that person understands his or her deficiencies & expresses willingness to work as a team member. Yes, giving extra work, transfer form north to south, transfer to boring-routine job are normal solutions 😁.

In normal situation, team members reflect or argue that they have failed despite of lot of efforts. One such unique leadership motivation style observed was to ask the person that,

“What was your biggest achievement in life”

“What all did you do to make that achievement happen”

“Did you put that kind of effort in your last task in which you failed”

“Did you display that kind of dedication, that kind of planning, that kind of sacrifice”

In most cases, person will realise that he/she could have done better.

The very basic, a leader owns failure of team & gives credit of success to team.

& yes it’s individual choice, whom you want to see as role model on the way to your leadership journey.
